The Atheist Delusion - Part III | Job 38:1-12
Building on the nine proofs of God we learned in The Atheist Delusion, Part Two, we now examine nine additional, awe-inspiring proofs of God. We are commanded to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). The Good News of the Gospel begins with God Himself. Memorize these 18 proofs of God’s existence and pervasive power, for they boldly convey His great love for the lost. Indeed, they are critical, essential truths every Christian should know and confidently share as we proclaim the salvation available through Jesus Christ.
We begin with a clear explanation of the Argument of the Deity of Jesus Christ (Proof #10). No other religion has anything resembling the incarnation — the astounding reality that God became man in the Person of Jesus Christ. Buddhists do not believe Buddha was God. Muslims do not believe Muhammad was God. This proof is foundational and crucial because it is utterly unique to Christianity’s redemptive message.
Next, we discern the Argument of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ (Proof #11), the Argument of Sin (Proof #12), the Argument of Miracles (Proof #13), the Argument of the inspired Old and New Testaments (Proof #14), the Argument of Truth (Proof #15), the Ontological Argument (Proof #16), the Argument of Contingency (Proof #17), and the Argument of Pascal’s Wager (Proof #18) — all explained powerfully, and clearly.
The early church father Thomas Aquinas insisted that if Jesus’ incarnation never truly happened, then an even more unbelievable miracle must have taken place: the conversion of the world by the biggest lie in history and the moral transformation of millions of people by a fabricated story. A spiritually made-up placebo? Impossible.
In Job 38:1–12, God Himself asks Job if he can hold the vast stellar systems together. This stupendous passage of Scripture dates to approximately 1979 B.C.! The Great Bear (Ursa Major), one of the most recognizable constellations in the northern sky, includes the Big Dipper. The Pleiades, a shimmering cluster visible to the naked eye, and Orion, the hunter with his brilliant belt of three perfectly aligned stars — all of them are held in precise sequence and harmony by God’s unfathomable power. In this message, we will examine this magnificent passage verse by verse, and we will be utterly awestruck by the majesty of God.
I will also pose questions that demand answers:
If the Gospels are lies, who invented the lie — and for what purpose? What did they gain? Martyrdom?
Why would thousands suffer and die for something they knew was false?
What power compelled Christians to march into the Roman Coliseum, many singing hymns of praise as they faced torture and death?
If Christianity began with Gentiles spinning a myth, how do we account for 27 inspired New Testament documents — 25 of them written by Jews?
If Christianity is not true, why has it continued to captivate, inspire, and attract some of the greatest minds in all of history?
